Cape Town Chamber Choir presents BACHconnection

13.03.2015 On 15 March 2015 at 16h00 the Cape Town Chamber Choir will present BACHconnection in the Lutheran Church, Upper Strand Street, Cape Town.
The title BACHconnection refers not only to the connection between the artists and the composer, but also to the connection among the featuring artists performing together for the first time: Cape Town Chamber Choir (under conductor Marijke de Villiers Roos), Cape Soloists Choir (under conductor Jaco Dippenaar), Erik Dippenaar and Hans Huyssen (the latter two musicians Baroque experts). All under the direction of the esteemed Norwegian maestro Kåre Hanken – another FIRST connection.
What makes this event even more unique is that, as far as is known, the first time in South Africa that four of J.S. Bach’s beloved motets will be performed in a single concert: ‘Singet dem Herr ein neues Lied’ BWV 225; ‘Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf BWV 226; ‘Jesu , meine Fruede’ BWV 227 and ‘Komm, Jesu, komm’ BWV 229.

The Cape Town Chamber Choir has established itself as one of the most distinguished a cappella adult choirs in the Cape. Its 30 members are all experienced choristers, many of whom sang in the preeminent university choirs of the country, and come from the greater Cape Town area – from Melkbos to Muizenberg, from Somerset West to Sea Point.

The Cape Soloists Choir is a specialist choir of soloist voices that launched in June 2013. The name of the choir refers to the individual choir members who are all semi-professional or professional singers.
