Cape Classic Festival 2012

Cape Classic Festival 2012

03.02.2012  The 8th Cape Classic Festival will take place from 15 to 25 February 2012 under the motto “A feast for alll senses”. Cape Classic offers a wide range of European classical chamber music and presents concerts in South Africa, performed by outstanding artists.

As part of their policy of cultural exchange, the festival opens with a South African work. Camerata Stellenbosch under Peter Martens will perform ‘Goggaboek’ by South African composer Prof. Hans Roosenschoon. This world premiere will be performed in the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch.

The performing artists all hail from Germany. This year they are Ann-Katrin Naidu (mezzo-soprano), Sebastian Noack (baritone), Amanda Kleinbart (horn), Franz Peter Fischer (violin), Martin Franke (violin), Martin Vollmer (viola), Friedmann Dreßler (violoncello) and Boris Kusnezow (piano).

Apart from the Endler Hall, other venues for this year are Oude Libertas Amphitheatre, Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, Morgenster Wine Estate and Lanzerac Hotel, the courtyard of Cape Town’s Winchester Mansions Hotel,  Allée Bleue in the valley of Franschhoek and the Sasol Art Museum in the heart of Stellenbosch.

‘Event-packages’ will again be on offer, such as a three course menu after the concert or a high tea which, on this occasion, will include a guided tour through the breath-taking beautiful gardens of Babylonstoren. Complementing the traditional open air concert at Oude Libertas, a summer garden picnic concert at the Blaauwklippen wine estate will also be presented.
