Rouel Beukes’ talent was nurtured on the South African opera stages. After 32 years his dream to record an album of the most popular bass arias with a full orchestra has come true.

On this album, titled “Rouel Beukes-Famous Bass Arias”, he sings a wide repertoire - from Mozart to Wagner. Rouel has performed most of the arias on this album on stage during his career. He has performed in 137 opera productions worldwide, most of them in South Africa. Some of the arias recorded on this album include “In diesen Heilgen Hallen” from The Magic Flute by Mozart, “Il lacerato Spirito” from Simon Boccanegra by Verdi, “Vecchia Zimmarra” from La Boheme by Puccini, “Hat Mann nicht auch Gold Beineben” from Fidelio by Beethoven and many more.

The album includes Italian, German and French arias from the most prominent composers. What makes the album even more notable is the fact that this is the first album of its kind to be recorded by a bass on South African soil in the history of South Africa.
