Young star musicians to feature in fundraising concert

10.08.2016  Members of the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra in Cape Town have been invited by the Music Agency in the Republic of Slovakia to participate in the Bratislava International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in December. After the festival the orchestra will give concerts in Prague, Vienna and Budapest.

The winner and runner-up of the 30th Anniversary Hugo Lambrechts Music Competition, Emilio February (marimba) and Sinead Symons (cello) will travel with the orchestra and appear as soloists in these concerts.

In order to assist the young star soloists, the Hugo Lambrechts Music Center will present a fundraising concert featuring February and Symons on Sunday 14 August. The concert will take place in the magnificent Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Parow at 4pm.

The programme will last for 75 minutes with no interval and will include pieces by Bach, Bloch, Saint Saens and Alan Stephenson.

The Hugo Lambrechts Percussion Ensemble will close the concert in grand style with exciting arrangements of pieces not often heard in concerts.

Tickets are R100 for adults and R50 for students and will be for sale at the door.
