Christopher Vale is one of South Africa’s most versatile performers. He has worked with institutions such as BTE-VO1SS, Brooklyn Theatre and Opera Africa, and has appeared in several gala events, most notably the televised Kyknet vir Mimi Gala Concert, in celebration of Mimi Coertse’s 80th birthday.

Having won several bursaries, scholarships and prizes, Christopher graduated BMus cum laude from the University of Pretoria in 2010, and also has his Licentiate in Performance from UNISA. His awards include three from the 2009 UNISA Bursary Competition, the Gertrude Buchanan Memorial Prize from the 2010 UNISA Overseas Scholarship Competition, four Pretorium Trust Bursaries and the prestigious Mimi Coertse Scholarship. Christopher has also been a finalist in the Muziqanto competition (2011) and a semi-finalist in the SAMRO Overseas Scholarship Competition.

Christopher’s teachers have included Gwyneth Lloyd, Hanli Stapela, Eric Muller, Marcus Desando and Barbora Tellinger (Jazz).

Christopher specialises in jazz, crossover, opera and lieder but is also well suited to oratorio work.
