- Arts Trust Piano Competition close 2 June

The closing date for the 2010 Arts Trust National Piano Competition, to be held in Bloemfontein during August, is Wednesday 2 June 2010.

The competition has seven age categories, ranging from 7 years and younger to 23 years and younger. Participants can choose to take part in either the solo or concerto category, or both. Only those participating in both will be eligible for the overall winners’ prize. 

Participants in the concerti category are required to present either the first or third movement from the prescribed concerti listed here:
Any concerto except nos. 1 to 4 by WA Mozart; Haydn’s Concerto in D major; any concerto by Beethoven; Chopin’s Concerto no. 1 or 2; Mendelssohn’s Concerto no. 1 or 2 or his Capriccio Brilliante Op 22 in its entirety; Saint-Saëns’s Concerto no. 2; Schumann’s Concerto in a minor; and Turina’s Rapsodia Sinfonica, in its entirety.

Entrance fees range from R50 to R200 and up to R400 for late entries. Entry is free for all category winners of the 2009 competition.

The competition will be held in Bloemfontein from 10 to 14 August. Participants will register from 8am on 10 August.
