01.07.2016  After an exciting week of anticipation and anxiety and fantastic singing, the names of the 16 who will compete for the prestigious 35th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition title have been announced:

- Larissa Wissel of Switzerland
- Jomante Slezaite of Lithuania
- Svetlana Moskalenko of Russia
- Siphamandla Yakupa of South Africa
- Lukhanyo Moyake of South Africa
- Oksana Sekerina of Russia
- Selene Zanetti of Italy
- Byung Jun Ko of South Korea
- Julietta Aleksanyan of Armenia
- Nicholas Brownlee of America
- Nolovuyiso Mpofu of South Africa
- Raehann Bryce-Davis of America

Many of them will follow in the steps of singers like Pretty Yende and Levy Segkapane, previous winners, along with Angela Gheorghiu and others and make their way on the global stage. 

The gala on Saturday with the Cape Town Philharmonic under the baton of Kamal Khan is directed by Cape Town Opera’s Christine Crouse.

The judges are casting directors from international opera houses; the media jury, including opera specialists Beverley Brommert, Fiona Chisholm, Wouter de Wet, Deon Irish, Wayne Muller and Barry Smith, will vote their own prize.
