Hugo Lambrechts Concerto Festival to feature top young soloists

22.08.2017  Eleven of SA’s most promising young musicians will perform as soloists on 27 August 2017 in the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre Auditorium in Parow at the annual Concerto Festival, starting at 18:00. 

They will be accompanied by the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra under the baton of a guest conductor, Chad Hendricks (25), last year’s winner of the national Len van Zyl Competition for conductors.

The participants include:
•  Qden Blaauw, last year’s winner of the national SAMRO-Hubert van der Spuy Competition for junior music students;
•  Jordan Brooks, winner of the 2015 SAMRO-Hubert van der Spuy Competition;
•  Pendo Masote from Johannesburg, who earlier made his mark in SA and was offered a place to continue his studies in Engeland as from September at the Yehudi Menuhin School; and
•  Cameron Williams, a second year student at Stellenbosch University, who has already claimed a host of first prizes and special awards at local competitions like Philip H Moore, II Vento, the National Youth Music Competition and recently at the ATKV Muziq.

The programme this year this year includes two works by the SA composer,  Alan Stephenson.

The Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra will conclude the programme with J Brahms’ Hungarian Dances 1 & 5.
